A Little Bit About Me...

I understand that all children learn differently and I am able to adapt my teaching style to fit the child. I am both patient and positive and I like to give the student confidence. My goal is to not only help the child learn, but to also give them a sense of confidence. It is important that each student believe in his or herself as well as their capabilities.
I have been working with children for several years. I started by teaching dance at a local dance studio while I was in high school. It was from this experience that I chose to go to college to become a teacher. I have a degree in Elementary Education and am ESOL certified. I have experience as a substitute teacher and have worked with both elementary and middle school students.

I have my professional certification in Elementary K-6 and Physical Education K-12. I recently taught Kindergarten and I have more than 30 years experience working with children of all ages. Along with teaching I have twice owned my own school and been the Director of many schools and summer camps. My strength has always been teaching Mathematics and I am taking the certification test next week.
One of my gifts with working with children has always been the ability to relate well with them. I know what motivates children and have always shown patience and understanding. Through my teaching experience thus far, I found that students learn a language best when they actively participate in lessons that have high interest and are meaningful to them. In order to acquire a new language, students need to be surrounded by the language, as they were by their first language.
