I firmly believe in meeting a student where they are academically, socially, and emotionally by adjusting my teaching style to best fit their learning needs. I don't use a lesson plan or guided lessons, I let the kids lead. They usually know what they need help on and if they can figure out what they are having problems with, then everything usually starts making sense. I usually keep my laptop with me, I refer to it if there is something I can't answer or figure out how to start drawing. I don't rely on it, but usually use it as a reference tool. I've never actually tutored someone, but I am very good at relating with younger kids and High Schoolers. All students learn at different levels. I like to incorporate all the learning styles of students. Some learn by hands-on, others by listening, and some by writing. These are all used by me. Each student has their own learning style and a teacher has to help each find what works for each student and then incorporate this to meet the needs for that particular student. Education cannot be mass-produced. One style does not fit all. Reading is extremely important to the success of a student. Education is the most valuable tool and weapon to get out of poverty; and it is something no one can ever take away from you. I have 17 years in the classroom and 5 years of education to attain this.
