I believe in the Democratic approach to Educating the young. I start the year by asking the students what they would like to learn that year and we record this on a large sheet of paper. Students feel happy to know their wishes are so considered and then at the end of the year we review the list and they see that they have covered everything they wanted to learn and much more. I am seriously concerned with the self-esteem of each children and work to elevate this so that the children will be able to grow and achieve the most that they can while in my class. I prefer a "hands on" approach in a one-on-one environment. I have had success with classrooms of up to 120 students, but I prefer the individual monitoring. It yields the best results. I have tutored remedial reading at the Elementary level for a tutoring service out of Phoenix, AZ for the Washoe County School System in Reno.
