My comments on tutoring Special Education : I HAVE BEEN A SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS AND THIS HAPPENS TO BE MY THIRD YEAR TEACHING IN THE SAME FIELD.

Taught at two colleges in Mombasa, Kenya for 5 1/2 years. Memon college under the Memon board of Education and Jaffery institute of professional studies under the Khoja Itna Asheri Board of Education. Joined Tennessee state University where I pursued another Major in Special Education. I taught under Metro Nashville Public schools for for short while at Neely's Bend Middle school. Since 2011 I have been working as a full time teacher under Clarksville Montgomery county schools as a behavior support Program Teacher. I have been successful in preparing students in transition back to regular education. I continue to work with them on a regular basis, but it has been interesting working with them on a regular basis. One of the important challenges is to have them turn their behavior around so that they can cope with their colleagues in the regular education setting. I have also been exc ... read more

I enjoy teaching and working with students. I believe all children can learn according to their individual learning styles. I enjoy seeing success when the students understand the material and achieve to their greatest potential. Since I have a child of my own who has struggled with a Learning Disability, I have learned various methods and techniques to help him understand the content material. If a student does not understand the way in which I am explaining the material, I present the same material, but in a different manner until he/she understands. Over the past ten years, I have worked for four school districts providing after-school tutoring to students with a learning disability. I have worked with all subject matters from preschool thru fifth grade. I have tutored my niece, nephew and cousin's children all thru elementary school. I have extensive experience in breaking down a skill and teaching it in smaller, more manageable pieces.
I enjoy working with children, waiting for the "ah ha" moment to arrive. When it does, there is nothing, like it. I believe strongly in the saying "there are no bad students, only bad teachers". I believe that every student is capable of learning, the trick is to find a way that makes it real and applicable to each individual student. I believe that the keys to success are student motivation, the tutor's flexibility and lots of patience. Show them, let them touch it, model it, read it, br ... read more

I have been teaching and tutoring students of all ages for the last ten years. Having graduated with a BA in English, I have learned much about writing and the writing process that I believe could help students at all levels. I have tutored students in English, reading, science, social studies, math, music, and French.
It has been said that no one rises to low expectations. I believe that every child CAN learn, but that the process of teaching each child must vary depending on their learning style. Tutoring gives teachers the unique advantage of having students one on one, and allows us to truly discover what methods work best for those students.

A Little Bit About Me...

My easy going nature and fun personality allows me to make learning interesting. I have always believed that the best way for someone to learn is to put the information into terms that are understandable to them. In the past I have used illustrations, acted out scenes from battles, utilized initialisms, and made up songs to help students learn concepts. Connections between the content and familiar concepts are essential, and thus I find it very important to get to know the student and how they learn in order to best help them. My goal is to make sure that all my students are able to reach their educational goals, and ultimately by the end of our sessions my students will be able to teach the information to someone else.
