Majored in biology/pre-med; I got my minor in psychology. I graduated from Western Kentucky University. I will soon be pursuing my masters in genetics. It is also important to make sure that what they know is correct and that they are not confused or misunderstanding the material. After which, getting to know the individual style of learning for each student will insure that time is used efficiently and that the student is understanding and retaining the material being taught. I try to communicate concepts in a simple and organized way and provide "shortcuts" whenever possible. I also try to keep in mind my own feelings and experiences as a learner of a foreign language (for me, Japanese). This helps me to be patient and understanding of the pressures and difficulties my students face.
