I have been at Pennfield High School for almost 6 months now and I have learned how to incorporate the new standards into the curriculum. I am currently teaching part time in the Mathematics department, teaching the subjects of Geometry and Algebra. I also have spent 5 years working for the Carman Ainsworth School District as an At-Risk tutor. I have had to lower myself to the students’ level of understanding to make the subject of Mathematics make sense to each individual student. I have had the opportunity to work at different levels of education, from middle school to high school, and have realized that this is the group of children that I want to impact. I enjoy teaching groups as well as one on one sessions. I believe teaching in a group can be exceptionally helpful as children have the opportunity to not only learn from their designated teacher but also from each other. I enjoy working with all kinds of children and of any age. Teaching children individually is also extremely rewarding as one can give them his/her undivided attention. I come from a country where education is more of a privilege than a right. This has motivated me to teach since the past few years as I believe an educated nation is a healthy nation.

As a Western Michigan University graduate, I have a strong feeling that education is the foundation that we build upon. Education is of the utmost importance these days with the world forever getting smaller and business continuing to become more global. It is in our best interests to see to it that our children of today build a firm foundation to build upon for our future.
