Making Learning as fun as possible.

I prefer to have a fun learning environment. I think you learn from hearing, seeing, and doing.
I’ve had many years of practice in the tutoring field dealing with the fact that my brother has a learning disability. He likes to have fun and thinks that leaning is boring, so I try to make learning as fun as possible. Then I have my student on student tutoring when the students tutor each other. I think its better that way because most students don't really pay attention to their teachers but they take it better when it comes from another student. Sometimes its better because something you understand they may not understand and when you explain it to them then may be they will understand it a little better. Basically what im saying is that some kids learn better from other kids.

Currently a junior at the University of Memphis, I am seeking a Bachelor's degree in English. I love to write, and have always been the dictionary for people, so my concentration is in Creative Writing. I have very high marks in all my English classes, (transcripts for which available upon request) and am currently 12,000 words into my first book. I have tutored children of many ages in the past, many of whom suffered with audio/visual difficulties such as dyslexia and other reading/comprehension difficulties. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is a combination of visual, and kinesthetic. Most of the students I have worked with in the past who are learning disabled learn best by seeing and doing( hands-on ) It works best for these students if they are able to see the work being presented and then try it themselves. In reading, I tend to like to have the student read a small section of the paragraph and describe a few things that stuck out in their mind. ( Create a picture ) For younger students I may actually have them draw what they read.

My comments on tutoring English : Has a good understanding of the English Language.

I have worked with the Memphis City/ Shelby County school system for 16 years as a substitute teacher. I have managed to substitute in all grades to include Pre-K up to the twelth grade. I am able to go in read, and follow the lesson plan in order to carry the class on in the teachers absence. Also, I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students.
During these sixteen years I have worked in many different capacities. I am able to adapt to the various teaching styles.
