My comments on tutoring GED : I have spent a summer teaching a GED preparatory course and have privately tutored several students in their preparation for the GED test.

I believe learning should always be engaging and meaningful. It is critical to address individual student learning modalities and needs so the student can experience great success. I take a look at what the existing instruction materials are attempting to convey and I add to that or expound on that. I use Google extensively to look for similar examples to the problems the student might be having. I believe that it is best to solve any given problem in at least two different ways if you really want to get some insight. It also helps in either verifying your answer or checking if you are in the ballpark.
I have an undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering. I have a Masters in Systems Engineering. I have tutored one person in statistics, algebra, analytical geometry and elementary functions for one year. She has maintained an “A” average during that time.
