I went to school at Miami University in Oxford, OH. I have a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Education. I hold a Master's Degree in Education, with a Spanish major, from Ball State. I am an experienced teacher and I love to work with people. I began my career at Richmond Senior High School in Richmond, IN, and finished it at the middle school level. I have been teaching Spanish for 5 years in a variety of settings. I have taught high school Spanish and elementary Spanish, focusing on Spanish I and II. I have worked in private and public school settings. I also have experience teaching English at the Elementary level. I have been tutoring students in Spanish for 9 years now, and have worked with ages 3-22. I am comfortable tutoring individuals or groups, as well as children or even adult learners. When I substitute for a teacher, I want to see a lesson plan. I do not want to be the classroom babysitter. If there is no plan for the day I involve the students in making one. I'm currently working on obtaining my teaching certificate, to go along with my bachelors degree in Social Science. Hopefully, I will be able to go on to receive my Masters in Education. I have been able to tutor students in reading, sentence structure, English and American history.
I love teaching and interacting with today's young kids. They fascinate me. Every child has different learning systems and sometimes it takes several tries to reach that special spot that opens the child's eyes to what excites them about learning. The thrill that I feel when that point is found and theirs, (And my, excitement,)grows. There is no feeling in the world like that!

I teach a hands on curriculum as much as possible. I constantly have visuals, or hands on manipulatives to helps students gain a better understanding. I believe that it's important to understand students' learning styles, and try to teach in a manner that "taps" into the various styles. My first session with the student is when I can determine whether their learning style is visual, audial, tactile, kinesthetic or a combination of these. I then write a prescription of study with the student that include several objectives and a timeline to achieve these goals.
