Let's make learning fun!!!

I like to do a lot of positive reinforcing and reaffirming.
I have worked with children for over 15 years. During this time I have provide homework help and tutoring in Math, Reading and Spanish. The children that I have worked with range in age from 5 to 17 years old. I have also done an extensive amount of work with infants and toddlers in the field of early learning as a nanny. My experience in working with children of so many ages has helped me to know what steps to implement in order to make children feel comfortable and confident while addressing challenges to learning materials. I have always enjoyed math and reading as a student and spent a short period of time studying Spanish abroad. During my time in college I was even more hands on with the youth enrichment at my church, working as a counselor/mentor for Vacation Bible School and the after school program.

My comments on tutoring Spanish : I have one year of experience tutoring university students but am willing to work with students of any age and adapt to their learning styles. I lived and studied in Salamanca, Spain for three months as well as lived and studied in San Jose, Costa Rica for two weeks. I have also traveled to other Spanish speaking countries such as Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

I am flexible. I would like to teach the way the student will benefit the most, so I will ask him how he would like to learn.
I have a year experience tutoring university students, but I am willing to try any age group. I was paid to tutor basic up to intermediate/advanced Spanish. I am a firm believer in learning the basics in foreign language. You must first build a foundation on which to place additional building blocks of knowledge. I use a commercial grammar text and workbook, which I select according to the needs and age of the specific student. We work through grammar and exercises with cultural lessons included. I include practice in conversation and composition as well. We work on any class-related material and address specific concerns of the student.
