Teaching and helping others is a passion of mine. I love the feeling I get when I realize I have helped somebody solve a problem. It makes them feel accomplished, and myself as well. When I tutor, I let the student come to me with the problem, and instead of doing it for them, I will break it down into smaller steps they can do. I will use similar examples from a book or problems I make up to show them the basics of the problem. I want to provide students with a good, strong mathematical foundation. I enjoy teaching and finding ways for others to latch on to the ideas. I teach 4-H Shooting Sports each spring and summer. I am certified to instruct Archery and Pistol. I can teach in a classroom, and walk through the methods with many students. I have worked in a study hall type tutoring condition, which at times becomes a classroom teaching. I have also done personal tutoring. I can use the computer to teach math as programming a computer to solve the problems in proof that you understand the methods. I have found games to help others learn ideas like FOIL's Law for multiplying two binomials. One is applying the process to multiplying two two digit numbers: 13*13 = 169.

I enjoy teaching adults as well as high school students. I do not have much training teaching below junior high; however, I am confident that I could successfully teach math or language. Although, I don't mind the traditional classroom setting, I am quite used to instructing on a one-to-one basis. Our GED programs are completely individualized for learners to move at their own pace, and I encourage this type of teaching style when manageable. Many of the students/adults that I have worked with have a learning disability of some sort, but I feel that I learn from each student just as much as they are learning from me. I enjoy teaching and couldn't see myself doing much else.
