My comments on tutoring Basic Learning Skills : Award winning Certified Tutor.

Experience includes teaching in public and private schools prior to and following tutor certification. Research for Tutor Certification focused on the study and analysis of adult learning problems stemming from poor learning and education experienced of youth. The study included exchanging past negative experiences for positive ones which substantially increases current abilities and progress. College Algebra students were in the study. While my credentials include college level learning, my experience is not exclusive to that level. My experience also included learning reading, reading comprehension, mathematics for preschool, K-12 grades as well.

I prefer that the student understands the purpose behind learning. In order to achieve my goal, I spend quality time in talking and developing an effective communication platform. I avoid doing rote learning. Therefore I make the worksheets and lesson plan as application based as I can. Some techniques and strategies are also employed on occasions.

My comments on tutoring Basic Learning Skills : I am experienced in teaching all elmentary subjects and I know what it takes to help a student grasp the material and relate to it all.

First, I like to determine a student's learning styles. Not all student learn the same. There are visual learners who learn by looking and writing. There are tactile learners who learn by doing and moving around (hands-on activities), then there are auditory learners who learn from hearing the information. I accommodate all styles int he classroom, but when tutoring, I assess the child by doing a learning style inventory which allows me to determine what style that particular child has. For visual learners, we use the basic paper and pencils, they watch me work. I model problem solving for them and then monitor them. For tactile learners, we pull out materials we can use our hands to work s with. A Little Bit About Me...

I think it takes a lot for one teacher to reach all of types of students who are all at different levels of interest in the subject being taught as well as at different levels of understanding. However, I feel it is the teacher's responsibility to give them all equal opportunity to learn. It is not just about grades and assignments, that is just the means to an end, but it is about learning. In order for the students to learn, the teacher needs to be passionate about the students as well as the subject that is being taught. That will instill in the students a desire to learn and understand.
