My comments on tutoring Reading : I have always been an avid reader. My favorite genres include classic religious writings, Romantic Age poetry, current and ancient philosophy, and some quality fiction.

I was homeschooled at a higher academic standard than public schools. As a current senior at Pensacola Christian College, I have recieved a steller education in English, as well as Bible and Biblical Greek. The usefullness of understanding Biblical Greek and being able to study the Bible in its original languages cannot be overemphasized. This is where I would like to spend my tutoring time, although I will be willing to help in basic English, Writing, or Reading.
The most effective teaching takes place whent he teacher presents the information clearly and then gives the student ample opportunity to put it into practice, with the teacher watching and assisting.

Collaborative & Fun Teacher

I believe that each student has a unique learning style of that must be discovered in real-time. Therefore I tailor the lessons towards an open, organic, collaborative process. I focus on small incremental steps designed to build momentum and flow states, which is the best way to start anything. The goal of any lesson is to bring the student to a place where they can learn on their own. The purpose of learning is fun!

I have two years of experaince teaching in public schools and four years of experaince teaching in Christian schools. I have an advanced degree in information technology and a background in English education. I have learned something from each of my students in my yeears of teaching but I think that my first year taught me the most. I think of the famous quote by Nikos Kazantzakis, “The ideal educator turns into a bridge which they then invite students to cross… after the bridge is crossed students must make bridges of their own.” I earned a Master’s of Science degree earlier this year by studying a variety of subjects. I began my college journey in 2006 with the goal of spreading and teaching a love of books, reading and learning. The goal began to be met at Southeastern Missouri State University. Tutoring without Tears.

Students learn best when they feel safe to explore and learn from past mistakes. In fact, 'mistakes' should be viewed as opportunities to improve skills and learning strategies. I use 'play therapy' most often to teach skills and strategies. Multiple studies have demonstrated that children learn best through play.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that language is the passport that can help you travel and understand the other culture; Therefore, teaching a second language is very important. I believe that being patient and creative is the essence of teaching, and in order to create well educated students, I should give them an extra time to be fluent in reading, writing and speaking the language.
French is my second language which I read and write since I was in third grade. I have earned an Associate in Art from community college, and I'm working on my BA in French. As a student in UMSL university,I'm practicing my French daily which is contributing in expanding my knowledge about French culture. I also work on helping the kids learning French while I'm volunteer in God's Small World preschool. As a native speaker for the Arabic language, I believe that I'm able to teach students in a way that make them fluent in ... read more
