Whenever I have been recruited to help someone in the past I have been a firm beleiver in less is more. Though it is important for the person to understand what he/she is reading or writing it is important to shadow their work instead of smothering them. I always feel for both myself and others that learning comes from doing and trying by ones self, and asking for help only when needed. Of course this style is useless if the explanations and guidance that go with it are not clear and fascilitate the process for the student.
Still fresh out of college I have been looking for an area to exercise my expertise in writing and my knowledge of literature. I work on vocabulary strategies and skills next. The proper vocabulary background for any subject area should be clear and concise to the student. We next work on concept mapping, and linking common themes. There is a process to every step of learning. I will review often to look for missing concepts.
