Everyone can learn if given the opportunity.

I have 20+ years working in education, and teaching in multicultural settings. Teaching areas include: Math, Science, and other subjects. I posses a very strong Math/Science background because of engineering degree. Out of the 20+ years experience, I have more than half working as a tutor for grades 6-12 in the public school setting. I'm fully bilingual in Spanish. I love to teach and tutor students, and believe that everyone can learn when the proper teaching techniques are implemented considering students' individual learning styles and interests. I believe in perseverance, dedication, and honesty as the keys to success in my teaching career and never give up on anyone just because a subject seems too difficult to learn.

My comments on tutoring Algebra I : I have kept my old notes just in case I have needed them and will bring them along to tutor

Very hands-on. I will get on their level and help them understand in the easiest way possible.
I am currently a high school senior, I have made good grades in all of my classes, my GPA is 3.0. I tutor my brother and some of his friends, I take concurrent college classes and am enrolled in my 2nd year of Indian Capitol Technology Center. I am very good at getting ideas and teaching kids the things they have learned in a simple student to student fashion.

More About This Tutor...

I have tutored many students in math, and a few students in English in the past. I am always able to adapt to how the student learns, and help them understand the material. I have worked with students from the age of 7 to the age of 15, from elementary English to Algebra 2, I have made it so the student can understand the concepts they are learning in school.
Depending on the students learning style and the subject, my teaching style will differ. If the student is a visual learner than I will create PowerPoints and other visual aids to help them. If the student is kinesthetic than I may create a project for them to do (if the parent is ok with it), or I may have them interact more during the tutoring than with the visual learner. Lastly, if the student is an auditory learner than I will create/find videos for them to understand the material or create a song. Whatever way your child ... read more

Math helps us solve the world's problems! Let's have fun

I have been a math tutor for several students in the Jenks/Tulsa area. As an engineer, math is a natural strong suit of mine. Previous students have seen test scores improve significantly. Using techniques to break down and solve problems inside your head is what I love to do. I really enjoy tutoring one on one and finding a way to relate to each student in a unique way so that we can work through learning challenges together.

Algebra I is one of my top subjects! Math is one of my strongest and favorite subjects

The client's specific objectives are identified in an early stage in order to customize the composition of the lessons.
My tutoring experience has begun in college, when I would assist with Japanese and math lessons between classes and the campus job. Over 12 years since then, regardless of where my professional life takes me, I have had the privilege of working with various clients in terms of age, background, and objectives. Thus far, the youngest was a second grader with mathematics, while the eldest was a professional with genuine interest in Japanese. As a native of Japan who has lived abroad for the majority of the life, it is my pleasure to meet and share the knowledge.

Algebra I is one of my top subjects!

I have 28 years of teaching experience in math - 4 years on the high-school level and 24 years on the college level. I have also done a lot of tutoring. Most students who have given me a chance to help them and have done their part have succeeded. Many students have told me that after I had the chance to help them, they understood math for the first time. Many students have told me that before I helped them that they hated math. But when they started understanding it, they didn't hate it anymore; in fact, some said that they even liked it.
In tutoring, it is best to locate where the student is having trouble, and start at that point, since math builds on itself. I always begin by working 1 or 2 examples of a certain type of problem. Then, when the student is ready, let him/her work a similar problem. When the student has mastered that concept, we move on to the next type of ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

one on one is the best for me, i dig deep in the material and make sure the student knows everything they need to know. I know what it's like to be lost, and i want to prevent that from ever happening to anyone as much as i can help it.
I had Algebra 1 my 7th grade year, geometry my 8th, algebra 2 9th, statistics 10th, trig 11th, and calculus 12th. I'm in the mechanical engineering program in TCC and currently in calculus 2. I can help in calc 2 but haven't really mastered it yet, anything below i'm pretty well off. Math has been the only thing that i enjoyed doing in school, and i want other students to feel the same way!
