I'm currently enrolled in a Masters of Arts of Teaching graduate program.Former instructors, professors and employers describe me as personable, ambitious, confident, reliable, disciplined and a dedicated individual. I graduated in 2006 from Saint Joseph’s University with Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Fine Arts. As a junior, I was chosen to study art abroad. Upon my return, I was selected to be a Residential Assistant. In this role I completed a comprehensive training program focusing on communication skills, counseling and health, emergency response, team building and conflict resolution. In addition, I created, planned, and implemented educational, social, and recreational programs with residents and faculty.

I believe in the power of positive teaching. I think that most students live up to or down to your expectations. If you expect them to do well, they frequently do. Sometimes all that is needed is for teachers and other persons whose opinions matter to exhibit faith in the student's ability. But it is also often necessary to help them identify what doesn't work and find new approaches that will. Writing is a skill that is crucial to academic success in college; students must excel in writing to do well in an academic environment. Writing is also a useful skill when it comes to thinking and to organizing one's thoughts. I am most comfortable with tutoring students who are preparing for college.

I have worked in a wide range of business and educational settings and have worked with students from grade school to adult. When I earned my BS in English, with a thirty credit business minor, I already had fifteen years experience working in a family run retail store. I have since worked a range of jobs including teaching business, computer and English classes. I also worked as a computer systems installer, service manager and office manager. I bring to my teaching a wide range of experience combined with a strong understanding of my subject areas.
