Structured yet creative Reading Specialist.

My teaching style is very structured due to my training, however, I can be extremely creative and motivating with the most challenging students!
I received my bachelor degree in elementary education. After having my two daughters, I went to graduate school and achieved a masters degree as a Reading Specialist. I was a graduate assistant and taught in a learning center for two years while earning my masters degree. Upon graduation I was an adjunct professor at C.W. Post, taught reading at a private school, a public school and then worked full time managing the reading department In an elementary school for eighteen years. During that time I had the opportunity to teach a support before school program, summer literacy as the lead teacher, creating my curriculum and a Saturday Academy in the middle school teaching study skills and test prep.

I began tutoring Math and Spanish when I was sixteen. After seeing how I could help students ccelerate in Mathematics, it was the key to me staying in the teaching field. I believe that since all children learn in different ways, when you can't get in the "front door", or through normal teaching methods, you must " go around to the back door" and try something else.
