A Little Bit About Me...

I am very patient and reassuring to students and wait for them to get the answer on their own when tutoring mathematics. I show them how to do it first, then let them try, and then re-explain. We would continue this repetitively with different problems until they can do it independently. It is also important to listen very carefully as to what they are saying.
I have extensive experience in mentoring minors and persons with intellectual disabilites for 3 years. In highschool and college, I regularly tutored highschool and college students in algebra, highschool chemistry, and english.

In a nutshell, I taught high school English for eleven years. I am passionate about all facets of education in the classroom and the real world. I have much to offer my students whether it be a love of literature, grammar and vocabulary or life itself! I love to teach.
My teaching style is one of discipline and at the same time hands-on. Students must feel the relevance of the world around them in order to gain an understanding of what's being taught. I have tried to apply a balance of patience and diligence to my teaching. Though I have not had any experience teaching in any school system in the United States, when I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine I taught both American history and American literature to high school aged students. I have a B.A. in history from the University of Arkansas and have had a great deal of experience working with youths as well. Currently I am in the Master's degree program at the University of Arkansas and have had experiences in researching, writing, and presenting my papers at conference. I will be graduating next semester and am currently applying to PhD. programs.

While in attendance at the University of Arkansas, I earned two degrees, a B.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in American Studies. In addition to these degrees, I also earned a minor in History. As I was completing my undergraduate degree, I participated in varsity athletics, maintained a part-time job, was active in student government, and volunteered through AAO.
