I am currently a graduate student at George Mason University completing a degree in Secondary Education. I have 18+ years experience in the Air Force and have homeschooled two of my children using a classical curriculum. I believe each student has a unique learning style and I strive to help students understand how they best learn to achieve their best results. My goal is not only for students to learn the content, but enjoy learning and to gain confidence in their own ability to master content.

I believe all children can learn. A good teacher tries to find each child's individual learning style and accomodate lessons to match it. I also think learning should be fun, so I use a lot of games and other incentives. I am patient, have a good sense of humor, and have age and the experience of being the mother of two twenty-somethings on my side.
I taught in the Wright City RII School District for 26 years, at both high school and middle school level. I have worked for one school year as a substitute for both Hanover County and Louisa County, I am Currently employed by Hanover County Public Schools as a teaching assistant while continuing my work on my graduate work. I will still be employed by hanover County Schools for the 2009-2010 School year.
I work well as a one on one special education aide because my attention is soley on the activities and education of my students. I am a laid back worker, and extremely patient because I find that if I allow myself to get out of shape, then I am not an effective teacher and aide, and my students will see this. I strive to be a good role model to them all, even when I may be frustrated but I find constructive ways of venting such as listening to music during class quiet times and taking walks with my students during activity breaks and while they are in PE.
