Algebra I is one of my top subjects! "Excellent instruction" - Stacy, Lexington, KY on 2/29/12 My daughter has always struggled with math in general. Algebra became overwhelming for her. Devin has been SO helpful. He takes time to explain concepts so that she can more easily understand. He is very patient and very knowledgeable. He even works ahead with her using her textbook so that she is prepared in advance for her next class concept. She made an A on her first test after tutoring with Devin. As a communication disorders major I have acquired an understand and love for working with children. During my internship I was able to work one-on-one with children who have language disabilities. It was through this internship that I learned what a reward it can be to help others, and to see them flourish intellectually.
I have always believed that each child is truly unique. I However do not believe that all education and forms of it, should be uniform. I like to ask questions and get the student involved. I like to get the student engaged as much as possible. I would like to observe the method in which the student obtains the most information and expound on that variable, triggering many senses for better memorization. My teaching style would consist of trying to get the student to understand what they are studying which is considerably better than just simple short term memorization.
I earned a well rounded education from Western Kentucky University with a strong emphasis in math / Engineering. Since College I have pursued the Surveying field. I have recently obtained the status of Professional Land Surveyor with the State of Kentucky. It is also important to make sure that what they know is correct and that they are not confused or misunderstanding the material. After which, getting to know the individual style of learning for each student will insure that time is used efficiently and that the student is understanding and retaining the material being taught.
