My comments on tutoring Statistics : Especially experienced explaining basic statistical concepts to students who typically struggle with math.

During undergraduate, I tutored several of my classmates in different chemistry and math courses. Additionally, I've had the pleasure of being a teaching assistant for 2 years for undergraduate statistics. As a TA, I was responsible for summarizing new material, reviewing the concepts, and going over the homework for groups of 20 to 30 students. I've also had a good amount of experience working with smaller groups of students or 1-on-1 with students who came to my office hours.
Patient and encouraging. I usually like to summarize the material and give a bit of context and work through an example. I have a rare gift of being able to impart practical examples of academic principles. I like to explain the concept while drawing pictures or showing some example problems, then have them work through some problems. I'll explain more thoroughly reiterating some key points after the initial exposure, and then try to pick out weaknesses while watching the problem set progress and work on those weak points.
