In working with students one needs to have the ability to connect with that student at their level of understanding. This can be different for every student, and the tutor needs to adjust to the student. A tutor has to be able to do this or the student will not be any better off. It is my firm belief that I need to find a way to connect with each student, and find a way to help them understand what they need to learn. Very often in a school setting it is not only the subject matter that can give students a tough time, but a lot of times it is that the student either freezes on tests and quizzes or may not have good test taking skills, and sometimes this needs to be learned as well as a particular subject.

My specialty is reading, writing and research. I have a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas, where I studied government, law and economics. I believe most students can learn or solve any problem by talking it through, which is often easier and more effective than simply trying to think it through silently. I have always loved children. Children are precious and all have very unique learning techniques. When I was a senior at Maryville High School, I taught Spanish to first graders. My partner and I were in charge of making lesson plans and fulfilling these plans for each class. I really enjoyed seeing the children get excited about learning.
I enjoy seeing children learn new things. I know that every child learns differently. It is important to get to know the children that you are teaching and figure out what teaching technique fits there needs. I feel like I do an excellent job of portraying what I am trying to teach.

My teaching style is informal and friendly. I have numerous years as an AWANA teacher of children at church in addition to one year experience as a professional chemistry teacher. A prior supervisor of my teaching style said "a natural teacher that immediately puts the students at ease".
My experience starts as a chemist in the nuclear industry, then proceeding to an environmental professional in the manufacturing industry, and finally as an adjunct professor of law for a distance education university.
