Since graduating from Missouri State in the fall of 2009 with my Bachelor's Degree in Spanish education I have been substituting with Sparta schools and Republic schools. I have also been tutoring a student in Spanish. I completed my student teaching in the fall of 2009 with Ozark High School and Springfield Catholic School. Before then I spent several years working with kids at book festivals and in Mexico through Second Baptist Church. My teaching style is is very "hands on." Once I know what learning style my student is,I manipulate my instruction according to their different learning styles whether they be visual, audio, etc. I am a firm believer that every child can learn, as long as they have the support they need. After living in Spain and learning Spanish as a teenager, I accelerated quickly in the Spanish language and literature program, later going on into the Master's program. I earned my first teaching credential in California where I taught for several years before moving to Missouri. I believe the best learning occurs when both a discrete point and holistic approach are used interactively. I like to break down the concepts into small steps which then fit together into a well-designed staircase leading up to the higher levels. I have taught either French or English, either in the classroom or as a private tutor, since 1989, when I was recruited as an undergraduate to teach Elementary French. For the next 5 years I taught all levels of French grammar and PhD readings, as well as first and second semester English Grammar and Composition courses while pursuing my MFA in Literary Translation (French and Spanish). In a nutshell, I taught high school English for eleven years. I am passionate about all facets of education in the classroom and the real world.
