A Little Bit About Me...

While in college I have gained experince in and out of the classroom. I have worked with children for a total of eight years. I have tutored students in math, reading, social studies, and language arts. I have worked with children in grades k through 8th grade. I have earned a bachelors degree, B.S in Multidiscplinary Studies and two minors in ESOL and Elementary Education. I hold an Initial I Teaching License in Oregon, and I am highly qualified to teach self contained multiple subjects and ESOL, in grades pre-k to 8th grade. As a graduate of Northwest Nazarene University (BA, History, 2000) and Boise State University (BA, Political Science, 1995), was very much driven to academic excellence. When teaching mathematics, I believe that over half of my job is social skills. Calming my students down, easing their frustration, and making them feel comfortable is over half the battle. It isn't that mathematics is too hard for most people, it is just too frustrating for most people. So my job is to set my client at ease and to create a learning environment. None of my family had gone to college, so it was predicted I would not either. I had a hunger to learn, so I systematically worked full-time and studied part-time, earning eight major degrees in cities where they alowed residency rquirements to be met in such a way. I was young and energetic, so it was a lot of work, but a joy. It took about 15 years to finally earn my doctorate. Along the way, I earned certification in a half dozen fields (especially loved English, social stuides, and psychology). For the past 2 years since graduating from the University of Oregon I have been working full-time as Psychosocial Rehabilitator within the educational environment of various elementary and secondary schools.
