A Little Bit About Me...

I was not able to obtain a teaching job when I graduated from college so went to work in the field of business. My jobs included: private secretary to a County Judge, bookkeeper, loan processor for a savings and loan, receptionist, cashier, manager, assistant librarian and owner of an electric motor repair business. These experiences have given me a wide under-standing of the business world and of the different personalities of people. I have also been a substitute teacher in several different subjects.
I have worked with children of all ages and enjoy helping them learn. I realize that everyone does not learn at the same speed and am very patient and understanding. Learning is my passion, and helping others realize the importance of education is an important goal of mine. I approach teaching as a helper and guide rather than a lecturer; I feel that most learning takes place when a person figures out the problem on their own with help understanding the theory behind the issue at hand. Everyone can learn, it is just a matter of how and where the learning takes place. As your child’s tutor, I will work hard to help him understand and learn the skills necessary to succeed.
As a graduate from South Dakota State University, I received a liberal arts education where I majored in Political Science and Global Studies with focus areas of history and religion.
