I graduated with my Master of Education and Bachelor of Arts degrees and earned my General Special Education K-12 and Elementary Education teacher certifications through Southern New Hampshire University. I graduated with honors and made the Dean’s or President’s List every term. I have had over 5 years tutoring students in Kindergarten to College students in all content areas. I have over 9 years working with children ages infant-adult. I have worked in many public and private schools where I worked with a variety of disabilities in the inclusive and self-contained settings. My passion is teaching and learning. As a creative writing major at school, i was an avid member of our newspaper, serving as copy editor. When i graduated college i continued my summer job as a technical writer at an engineering company. My last position was also an assistant technical writer. Both positions required knowledge of AP style, extreme detail to grammar and an ability to write different styles. After school in between finding career positions, i briefly tutored and substitued as a paraprofessional in the nearby school district. Working with children has always been my passion. I like to get to the point of certain problems, such as reading the child/student when I see them, ask them some questions about the subjects they need help in and why they need help. I have worked with Infants-School age for over 5 years, and enjoy being there to help someone in need. I believe in giving back, because so many of us are blessed already.
As an early childhood teacher, I have had several opportunities to help children (school age), to do homework. I also was a tutor in high school to a boy for just Algebra, which then turned around to being all of his subjects and helping him keep on track. The hardest thing for me was that he had only lived in the U.S. for four years, and had trouble speaking English. After each session of tutoring, I would grab the Scrabble board, which encouraged him to use more words, learn new words, and have fun while doing so.
