Since the year 1997, I have worked with many students in Baltimore City and Howard County School system as an aid, reading assistant, substitute teacher for many subject areas including Science, Art, Health, and (long-term) English, High Subject (for all subjects) and a Special Educator that carries with many titles and various needs including transitions, SST, 504, and committees. I believe that we all learn better one way versus another but it does not negate the many ways of learning as well. As a teacher I believe that everyone wants to learn but many are unable or have not been able to see the connections it has on our lives and that we all have talents and skills that needs support, encouragement or attention. I have been employed with my internship for approximately 2 years now. The company is called ChAMP (Children Achieving Maximal Potential), I work with autistic children in their homes. I follow the child's treatment plan. I work on daily living skills, personal hygiene, physical activities, practice email, puzzles/games etc. I like to have a schedule written out so that the child knows what will be expected of him/her that day. I am very organized and like to complete tasks in a timely manner. I like to address all the questions the child may have during a lesson, I try to explain things in several different ways so that child will grasp the concept in a way that makes sense to him/her.

I spent one year as a day to day substitute teacher working all over York County in various special education classrooms. My second year was spent as a long term substitute at an alternative high school for boys where I taught all subjects. My third year I started teaching Specialized Preschool and did this for many years until I retired last year. My students had many exceptionalities.
