I believe that one key to successfully helping children of all ages to learn, is a positive and encouraging atmosphere. Since every child learns differently, I always adapt my style of teaching a particular subject to best fit the needs of each individual. I have found that incorporating every day examples and scenarios into the concepts that a student is learning, can help them better understand the subject matter, and the application of these concepts. I believe that there is no such thing as one size fits all teaching. Every student learns in a different way, at a different pace, and much of the fun for me in the process of teaching is improvisation: discovering which methods work best for each student. I believe foremost in teaching students to take responsibility for their own learning: I will teach how to learn, and I will try to develop a student's passion for a subject, but I expect students to work toward their own development. As a teacher I am patient and empathetic and if one explanation is not sufficient, I have no problem trying more. I believe learning doesn't have to be difficult or boring.
