About midway through my studies at Northeastern University, I started teaching in after-school programs. There I taught middle school and high school ages kids how to DJ and produce music. I also taught capoeira, a Brazilian martial arts class. During my time at NU i studied all aspects of music technology including compostion, music theory, production, and engineering.
My teaching style is very hands on. I like to show the student how its done and make them repeat the process over until the concepts are understood. I evaluate the student and see where he/she stands and move forward in progressing their skill. Every instrument is different and difficult in its own way. I will teach the student the most productive way to practice by using the technique I learned by professors and professional musicians. For trumpet, I work on the embochure, and breathing. For violin, I evaluate the way the student holds the instrument including posture. I use a special tape to help guide with the notes which I use as training wheels, and take them down one at a time as the student progresses. The student learns at his/her pace and will vary by the amount of practice he/she puts into it.

A Little Bit About Me...

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a public school music educator for three years, and have taught privately for ten years. I have had the opportunity to teach elementary, middle school, high school, and college, and have worked with students as young as six, and as young as seventy-five.
