At Bridgewater State College I started tutoring general chemistry and organic chemistry in the Fall of 2006. I am receiving my degree this May, and have already been accepted to a few PhD programs in chemistry. I am looking for a tutoring job or jobs for the summer, and possibly for longer. I have tutored small groups of five to eight students for chemistry. I have tutored general chemistry, organic chemistry, and chemistry in everyday life, which is a course for non-chemistry majors. Subject material can be confusing and very intimidating. I speak from experience. When I tutor students, I ask where they feel they need the most help and where they are doing well, to help them with their uncertainties and increase their confidence. Instead of just giving the students the answers, I will show them where to find the answers. Once the student works out the problem with I, I instruct the student to try a similar problem without my help, to deepen their grasp of the material, and to show them they can do it. I have had an opportunity to teach in several different locations and age groups. I first taught in a low income preschool where I focused on making children excited to learn through presenting the material in an interesting manor. Next, I spent two semesters in college working as a general chemistry lab instructor.
