My comments on tutoring Statistics : Well studied under the obtainment of my minor in Math.

As a Graduate of Saginaw Valley State University, I have obtained a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry and Minors in Math and Biology. I have gained knowledge in most of the sub-sets on those subjects as well as High School or College entry level in most other academic subjects. I have tutored before as a volunteer, in paid sessions, and have often helped out friends at various educational levels.

I am a creative teacher. I love to design my own lessons to engage students and compliment their learning styles. I have experience teaching traditional classrooms, but my passion is non-traditional education. I love working one-on-one with students or in small groups.
I graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a degree in Secondary Education and am certified in the State of Michigan to teach 6-12th grade English and math. Along with completing student teaching, I have substitute taught in various districts as well as tutored homeschool students. My teaching style varies from student to student. However, the basic foundation is the same. I like to develop the fundamentals and build a foundation on top of them. I also like to see the students do a certain problem that they are struggling with in front of me. Moreover, I like them to talk out loud so I can follow their thought process and identify where they are struggling and help them better understand any steps that they have simply remotely memorized. In this manner, not only do they better understand the problem at hand, but they are also capable of tackling similar problems without any need of memorizing steps.

A Little Bit About Me...

One of the key motivators for learning is the link between theoretical math or science topics and everyday problems that a student can solve using these skills. For example, to help a geometry student understand the significance of the area of a prizm, I asked him to consider how much paint he needs to buy if he wants to re-paint his room. A max/min calculus solution can help select the minimum fence length to create the largest yard for a dog. I also try to approach teaching the same concept from several different angles. Each student will have their own process of internalizing a specific concept and it's just a matter of finding the right path to get him or her to understand. Often the one-on-one tutoring experience offers the opportunity for such an interaction that may not be possible in a class room setting.

I have had many experiences in education both during and after my college education. I have been put into many situations that have required using much of the curriculum content, classroom management, and lesson plan developing skills that I have acquired. I have a major in science, but I also have extensive mathematical skills due to the many math classes I have taken for my BS and while currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Accounting. I have had the opportunity to tutor students in math, science, reading, writing, and social studies.
