Excep Expert Tutoring: Pivot Tables, Data Analysis, VBA

In my current position for O.C. Tanner, one of my main responsibilities is to develop, test, and deploy software that improves efficiency and user experience using customized SharePoint and VBA solutions. This endeavor has lead me to reducing 25 hours of report creation in Excel each month to 15 minutes, freeing up additional time for more value added work. In addition, I had to manage various projects; through developing this skill, I have learned to work individually and with groups to achieve a variety of goals. My most important achievement so far has been a sustained reduction in ergonomic injuries of 80%, resulting in $180,000 reduced workers compensation claims each year. I achieved this through group of 25 leaders who received specialized training, I developed, in assessing their work areas for ergonomic risks. I then guided these leaders to develop projects to reduce those risks ... read more

Give Real life experience a try

Experience throughout school, work and personal experience dealing with the mentally challenged and dyslexia. my best friend had a son who was dyslexic and also he had ADD and I got him to trust me in babysitting and I taught him various things. I taught him how to read and write he could not accomplish that on his own. He was 11 at the time and I think with kids you have to be creative to teach them and I am very creative. I also have an aunt who is mentally handicapped, and I love spending time with her she is a very giving person. They teach me and it is always a joy to work with them and give something back.
Hands on approaches mixed with worldly knowledge, and a very patient style.

A Little Bit About Me...

I always observe and learn the person's attitude and characteristics, as it will help me a lot to enculcate learning. I love to talk and teach. I love kids. And I believe no matter how difficult a child can achieve efficiency in learning, there is always a way to do it. For me teaching is an Art. There is always a room to make learning happen. Each child is unique and has the potential, but one great factor to mold the child's potential, is his learning environment and support from people around him. I want to create a child who love to be taught and value education, because I believe Education is the greatest wealth a person can ever have.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching. Currently I am working with adults in debt management and financial counseling. Money management is critical to the survival of a family and easily sabotaged by impulse spending. I most enjoy one-on-one situations. I have good people skills and have worked with children and adults from many cultures and walks of life.
I was first introduced to accounting by owning my own business. Then I was hired by an engineering company to update their bookkeeping method from paper to computer. I became proficient in troubleshooting discrepancies and providing users with solutions. I interfaced with Federal and State taxing agencies, banks, and lending institutions requiring reports and/or payments. I then moved on to a Software Development company as a Product Manager of accounting software being developed for internet use by accountants. I trained and answered questions, ... read more

I enjoy working with children of most ages although I worked mainly with K, first, fourth and high school levels during my four years of experience. I believe everyone has the ability to reach their greatest potential with appropriate help and that sometimes extra assistance can be the difference between success and failure. I use rewards to help children feel better about what they have accomplished. I encourage the use of creativity in learning as long as it does not distract from the lesson that needs to be learned.
During my four years at Case Western Reserve University, I became aware of the needs of the city schools in the area and worked to help improve the situations in the schools. I worked with AmericaREADS, OhioREADS and other similar programs to help tutor children who were not able to get the individual attention they needed in the classroom. Because of my backgro ... read more

I am an aspiring condensed matter physicist with extensive knowledge of chemistry and mathematics. I have experience in the industry working as a researcher and engineer which gave me a deep insight into applying the physical principles I learned in school. I have taught English as a second language in a formal setting and tutored numerous friends and colleagues in matters ranging from introductory physics to technical writing.
I am an extremely patient and positive teacher. I believe that the fundamental gift a teacher can give to their students is the gift of confidence. In my experience the primary obstacle to a student's progress is usually their own disbelief that they can do it. As a teacher, if you can persuade the student to overcome this doubt, the rest of the job simply requires patience and resilience.

I think the most important part of instruction is to give the student a framework for learning. I help them solve problems by asking leading questions so that they can develop the intuition for solving problems on their own, of course introducing and explaining basic concepts when necessary. Along the way, I explain insights, tricks, and tools that I use to solve problems. I constantly emphasize and repeat these insights, tools, and tricks until the student remembers them. In this way the student is building and strengthening his intuition.
Since graduating from MIT with a degree in Math, I have worked at the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge, MA and Siemens AG in Munich, Germany. For the last two years, I have been a graduate student at the U in physics. I plan to earn my Ph.D. in 2009. I started tutoring college level calculus and physics the year before enteri ... read more

In preparation for college, I knew that in order to get into the kind of small private colleges I was looking for, earning a high enough score on the standardized exams like the SAT and ACT was very important. Although I scored very well on both tests, my writing and reasoning skills underwent great improvement in my college's intensive honors program for accelerated studies. Since 2005 I have been tutoring full time, and teaching in small classrooms for the Anchorage school district. I have had great success with a variety of students and types of curriculums in all subject matters.
My teaching style varies depending on the type of students I am teaching to because I believe that each student has a particular learning style that they find easier. I think that it is important to find the types of learning that each student finds easiest to understand, and tailor the course so that ... read more

My direct experience is with adult learners. In my current position at USA TODAY, one of the largest newspapers in the country, I am heavily involved with technology training. Not only do I work with developing new training materials (from PowerPoint to video to documentation), I also do live classroom training. I tutored younger students for my college internships where I worked with fifth graders. Both short internships were fulfilling, but I ultimately opted to go to the corporate world.
I try to give my students the tools and resources they need to move beyond what they learn in the classroom. It is not enough that a student is engaged in the classroom. He or she needs to be able to apply what they have learned to real world situations. It is always my goal to help students see how to connect what they learn in class to the real world.

Being a recent graduate of the University of Portland with a degree in International Business and Finance, I have already had the opportunity to use my skills by working in Financial Services in London. During my four years of study at the University of Portland, I spent two semesters in Salzburg, Austria and one semester in Perth, Australia. I have received top-tier education and plan to use this to my full potential, especially through teaching others. I have been very involved throughout my college years with tutoring (mainly Math and English) and continued tutoring Elementary level students part time while I was working in London.
My teaching style incorporates an initial understanding of the student. I believe that it is crucial to understand the needs, wants, and habits of the individual to get the most out of each session. I am able to create an atmosphere which makes the wo ... read more

As a Duke graduate, I have had a very well rounded liberal arts education and am thus well acquainted with a variety of subjects. While my degree is in Spanish literature and history, I have had experience tutoring students in math and English as well.
I love working with students one on one to develop a tailored approach that will work best for the student. Once we discover together the most appropriate method to access the material, I find that students thrive quickly. I am patient and determined and I thoroughly enjoy watching my students succeed with my help.
