I believe strongly in adapting to the students style of learning. There is no "one size fits all" in learning. I think it is important to go beyond teaching the facts by exploring the bigger picture. Development of critical thinking skills should go hand in hand with teaching the test materials.

My comments on tutoring Shakespeare : 4.0 in Shakespeare Literature class. Paper on Justice in Shakespeare's Italian plays presented during conference in 2008.

I believe in identifying where a student lies on the subject he/she is studying before going further. The advantage of one on one tutoring compared to classroom is that the lesson can be based around where the student’s strengths and weaknesses are rather than a blanket method. I also believe that the skills used in English can be best practiced and analyzed through writing rather than worksheets and tests. Therefore, I believe in having the student write on a variety of subjects and working through these pieces to show where they can improve.

As a Visual Arts Teacher and Special Educator, I am a resourceful, energetic person with a commitment to fostering lifelong learning in students. I am positive, outgoing, and approachable, with a talent for drawing out young people and putting them at ease. My philosophy in education is that all children are capable of being successful in school and life and their experiences and accomplishments should feel both enjoyable and rewarding through their own desires and perseverances. Given the rapid advancements in technology, I have come to realize that students can access much of the information needed to be successful in life. With this in mind and given the ever changing classroom philosophies around methods and instruction, I believe teachers’ curriculum and lesson plans can also include ways to support their roles as facilitators in a classroom where the teacher then guides student ... read more

When I tutor a student, it is important for me to understand what he or she needs. If the student does not know, I help figure it out. Once we discover what is needed, I encourage the student to look for strategic, organized ways of fulfilling that need. Some students need help reading a text closely to uncover meaning so they can develop an essay with solid evidence, for example. Other students struggle with SAT or MCAS writing because they are not yet familiar with the standard forms. Yet other students benefit from support in writing letters of application for various purposes. It is my goal to make sure students' writing comes out cogently and articulately.

Situation problem is my favorite to help forge a good critical thinking. I believe that students that can have a hands on trained language, science or Math teachers can do better scores or do better job than students in their ages that do not have any additional help. we parents and instructors chiefly teachers are the light guide of our kids. We must assume the responsibility to prepare the next generation. Our kids fail in schools not because they are bad or stupid but because we are not doing our job professionally.

I work hard to have lessons that are as tailored to the students' needs as possible. I believe it is my responsibility to facilitate learning, not force feed information. Whether I am helping a student with prioritizing assignments, studying for tests, teaching study skills, or guiding him or her process of writing papers, I strive to promote metacognitive awareness throughout the tutoring experience.
