My comments on tutoring Writing Skills : I took AP English in high school as well as a variety of composition and literature classes in college.

I am currently pursuing a degree in secondary education with a focus on history from Johnson State College. In the past I have worked as a substitute teacher for all grades as well as a pre-k teacher at a daycare for 3 years. One of the most interesting aspects of teaching is how different people process information. Oft times it is difficult to find a teaching style or method that can be equally useful to people of different learning types. I have found that teaching methods common to experiential educators, common practice in such disciplines as SCUBA diving, First Aid/CPR, Martial Arts, Art, etc., can be successfully applied to virtually any academic discipline. The process leads the student to the discovery of concepts based on practical demonstrations by the educator with as much repetition as necessary for the student to achieve comfortable mastery.

I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Physical Education, which means I took several teaching classes. I have worked with youth for almost 10 years, working in schools, summer camps, and most recently as an director of (3) afterschool programs. I worked as a para-educator for 3 years in a school in central VT, helping tutor a 2nd grader and a 7th grader with their academics
I enjoy working with youth, ever since I was in college I have had jobs where I worked with children. I think their fun, and great to be around. I earned a BS in Aeronautics and have completed some graduate work in aerodynamics and meteorology. Every one can learn. Sometimes an individual learns in their own unique style and finding that style is the key to teaching them. The best way to teach someone is to guide them when they come to a road block, rather than to give them the answer. The amount of pride and prestige that comes from having figured out a problem on their own is the most important thing.
