Graduated from wright state university in 1993 with a bachelors of science degree in mechanical engineering. I have worked the past 16 years in the automotive industry mainly as a manufacturing supervisor. Also, since high school have volunteered abd served on 2 fire departments as a firefighter and emergency medical technician. I enjoy teaching young adults the education and work experiences I have obtained the past 20 years. I enjoy teaching and working with all of todays youth. My main joy is teaching science and math since they are the foundation of all engineering principles which makes society go forward everyday. While at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh I worked as a tutor in Mathematics and Shop. Much of the time the students did not have an adequate education in high school, so it was necessary to start from scratch. My other duties were to fabricate office equipment and search out tutorials to better explain concepts to struggling students. Depending on the student I often start from scratch with analogies, diagrams, online tutorials, and simple practice on scratch paper. Usually students will get it after a few sessions, but there are many students that have to be tutored on a constant basis. I teach that effort is necessary for success. A positive attitude is good, but only if it is an afterthought of repetitive practice and focus. I would not tell a student "you can do it" if I knew they could not. Instead we would work together until they could do it.

My teaching style is customized to each student's needs. Because all students have different learning styles my instructions are patterned to maximize that student's particular style. After evaluating each student with a baseline test, goals and objectives based on the state's/district's curriculum are determined. My style is setting high but realistic expectations with rigorous assignments. I also try to have an overdose of encouragement and make the learning session fun time for students. Teaching has been my last career change. My prior experience has been in the field of manufacturing, maintenance engineering services and construction management. I always wanted to become a math teacher, but in order to become one in a communist regime; you had to be a member in the Romanian Communist Party. So, I obtained a BS in Mechanical Engineer (172 credit hours). I was working as a designer in Romania and had in parallel a private math and physics tutoring business. At NEIU I finished a lot of credits hours toward my second BA in Secondary Education Mathematics. Meanwhile, I found a job as a Mechanical Engineer at Mercury Products.
