I enjoy teaching and thrive on developing learning strategies. Every child/person learns differently, and discovering the right method is key to opening the mind to difficult subjects. One on one tutoring is the most effective way to develop communication necessary in order to learn. If a person is able to see what they are doing wrong and know why, this enables them to move towards the right answer. I am a good listener and let the student tell me what problems they are having in any subject. I ask them questions to get them to think about what they're learning in depth. I let them explain things to me instead of just explain everything to them, this way I can find out what they already know and give them feedback so that they can improve on their weaknesses. I am patient with them and let them work at their own pace, never rushing them. I tailor my tutoring to each student's individual needs.
I tutored at Case Western Reserve's Center for Civic Engagement and Learning. I tutored kids of in middle school at the local library in all subjects. I have a bachelor's degree in biology and am in the postbaccalaureate program in nutrition.

As a young student I was very motivated to attend medical school at a young age. I received a bachelor degree, BS, in biology with minors in both psychology and chemistry. After graduating with my undergraduate degree early, I unexpectedly found a passion for teaching. Currently, I am working towards my masters degree, MS, in biology. Biology is a subject that unfortunately can get pretty dense and requires an amount of memorization. However, it is a subject that builds upon itself, so if you understand the big picture of a given topic in biology, it’s easier to expand from there. Thus, I prefer to start with the big picture first, then build from there. When possible, I like to use real-world examples so the student can see the biology principles they’re learning at work. While meeting with a student, I like to assist the student in developing their answers, not just giving them answers though sometimes that’s necessary. When a question is answered wrongly, I explain what is wrong with that statement and suggest what a correct response could be.
