I have extensive experience working with dually diagnosed individuals. The students I taught not only had difficulty learning but also exhibited some emotional and mental difficulties. I work well with students both individually and in group lessons. My special education experience has provided me with an ability to identify where and why students are having difficulty learning. In college, I tutored kids K-5 on primarily their reading skills. However, I also asked them if they needed any help with any other subject and what material was covered. From this I would put together study outlines from their notes and textbook. This allowed me to know ahead of time what should be emphasized. Also, when teaching a biology field to a more mature individual, I find that reading up on the material actually emphasizes my passion for the field. There also have been times I have made up mnemonics for certain biology topics, whether it is a rhyme, story, or parody of a song. I find that it makes learning the material easier and more enjoyable. My friends always have enjoyed them as the mnemonics always can create a laugh.
