Creative Writing is one of my top subjects! As an English teacher for students with a wide range of competencies and learning profiles, I used creative writing as a tool to motivate students to "think outside the box," and use photographs, paintings, every day objects, random words in a book, and free writes to jumpstart their thinking and create stories and poetry utilizing their higher level and critical thinking skills.

My teaching style is based on student-centered, social-emotional learning, where my core values are focused around differentiated, individualized instruction based on the learning profiles and interests of my students. NO two students learn the same and it is extremely important for me as an educator to meet the student "where they are," and utilize techniques and strategies that motivate learners to be invested participants in this partnership.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am aware of different ways of teaching methods. I like to get to know the student so I can engage his/her mind.I prefer the hands-on method and work from the child's work. I graduated from SUNY@Oneonta with BS in English. I was going in the field of education but i wanted to graduate on time. After graduation, i was working in the field of retail. I still had the desire to teach so i signed up as a substitute teacher 5 years ago. My teaching experience includes a wide variety of situations. I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with children in grades kindergarten, one, two, three and four in a number of educational models, including multi-age groupings, departmentalized models and the traditional classroom. Also, in certain instances I believe it helps the learning process if the subject matter can be related to an area of interest.
