A Little Bit About Me...

I have been performing since i was a child. Attended Julliard school of music, City colege of NY. Published two albums of my own and has recorded with a host of astist as a sideman. I am a multi-instrumentalist playing piano,bass(electric and acoustic), all percussions,composer and arranger. I have earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in music performance
I love teaching students of all ages. It is very satisfying to see their eyes light up when they realize they got it. One method i use is to teach the the music that they love and apply the theory and technique to it, and gradually introduce them to more challenging works. I can improvise at a moments notice to help get the lesson across, even if it means focusing on one task at a time. My goal is to make the learning experience as pleasant as possible.

As a musician, I have taught two private students in Electric Bass, taught a master class for a high school level jazz combo, conducted a high school band for a piece I composed and arranged, and played gigs with talented musicians in the Dartmouth area. I was a hockey coach for beginners for 6 years where I honed my skills as an instructor that make me very adept at teaching. I know many practice techniques and exercises for all levels of musicians that are up to date and effective.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a Trombonist with Conservatory training, I am able to privately instruct beginning to intermediate brass instrumentalists of all ages. I am also able to instruct my students in Music Theory, Fixed-Do Solfege, Music History, and Ear Training. While at Conservatory, I played with small Chamber Ensembles, large Wind Ensembles and Orchestras, which required me to use tools other than sound for communication. Body movement and posturing is a very telling way to assess the amount of confidence someone has in any given situation. Subtler ways of communication are essential for teach/student, section, ensemble and performer/accompanist performance. I always strive for clearer communication - this leads to improved musical performance.

With normal class size groups... the goal is to provide a lesson with real educational content but to deliver it in a totally entertaining format... usually organizing the students into groups to a) provide support for the challenged and b) excitement for the total class as each group competes against the others. one-on-one teaching requires that the objective(s) be well established and then carefully focus on the individual student's best learning method, be it: verbal, written, reading, hands-on, or all of the above.
