I like working with young people to challenge them to accomplish something they did not think was possible. I prefer to ask them questions and see what they can come up with. As a graduate student, I worked as an Academic Adviser for student-athletes at The University of Akron. I have worked tutoring at-risk students in a cooperative environment. Every person has a unique background and set of experiences that he or she brings to the learning experience. It is difficult, at best, for the student to correctly assess how his or her experiences affect the learning process. Thus, the burden is on me, the instructor, to determine how a student learns, and adjust my teaching methods to meet the student's needs.
