Statistics, quantitative methods, and analytical methods are my strongest subjects. Additionally, I have college graduate level skills in English/grammar, science, and social studies. Although theses were not part of my major, I do have above high school skills to share with those who need help in those subjects. Out of those three, my English skills are above average from writing many research papers on business subjects.

I began tutoring while in high school, as a junior and senior I would spend 2-3 afternoons a week at the Middle School helping the learning support classes write book reports. While in college at Slippery Rock University, I put up flyers around campus and worked as an independent tutor for five dollars an hour aiding my fellow students finish their final papers at the end of each semester. I feel that my degree in Creative Writing aids me greatly in tutoring because my ability to think outside the box and put myself in the writers shoes helps me to better understand their writing style. I've recently moved to the city and I am really eager to begin teaching and tutoring again.

I think it's important to listen to what learners and students have to say. I approach teaching first as a learner; I learn what the student's main concerns are and what goals they have for themselves. Second, I teach and leave room for questions, concerns and confusion. This approach to teaching focuses on the major concerns of the student (or parent)rather than focus on an overarching theme like how to read or how to write. If the student's only concern is how to use a comma, then that will be the focus of the lesson rather than focusing entirely on all grammar.
I have earned a bachelor degree in English Writing with a minor in German Language and Literature.
