A Little Bit About Me...

I evaluate each child during my first session to determine their learning style and their level of need. Once we establish that, I tailor a program of study designed to improve not only the current subject at hand but also to provide long term study habits they can take into their future learning experiences. I use various methods of oral, written and guided reading, memorization and visual learning to reach as many of the brain's centers of learning as possible to truly help the child retain the information long term.

I have been homeschooling my son since 2006 and mentoring students through a local church for just as long. In addition, I tutored in 1990-1991 and 1994-1997 while in college to earn extra money. I love working with children of all ages. i understand not everyone learns in the same way so I like to ask questions of the student, let them show me how they do work, and then make it a fit as to how I teach and how they learn. I believe every child can learn and, given the right motivation and stimulation, they will work to do their best. I work with the child from the level where they are and we progress from there.
