It is my belief that most students that seek out the extra help of a tutor have a much greater capacity to learn than they realize. It is upon that belief that all of my tutoring is centered around. My long term goal for most students is to show them how to be self-learners so that at some point they tell me to stop coming because they don't need a tutor anymore. In Physics especially tutoring, the approach that gives me best result so far is to directly engage the student in solving Physics problems. It is one thing to present the subject matter but it is a whole different thing to solve problems. Most students don't really understand the significance of the theory or law until they apply in solving physics problems especially those with relevance to real life situations.
