My comments on tutoring Science : I am good with genetics and chemistry, not so much with geology and earth science!

I started tutoring in high school for extra credit. I have primarily tutored in mathematics and general chemistry! I tutored a girl in Algebra 1 for a year, helped my best friend and her Mom with college mathematics, and worked through college algebra with my husband. In college I was a teachers assistant for general chemistry 1 and tutored in quantitative chemical analysis. Since then I have tutored a gentlemen for the math portion of his GED. Basically, I love the one-on-one opportunity to help people to find that "light-bulb moment" where the math and science is no longer torture, but instead it makes sense! :)
Very much based on working with what the student knows. I tend to start by having them explain to me what they are doing and what they think. I then provide some guidance and walk through a sample problem with them. I ask that they try another problem like it on their own ... read more

I started as a Rate Analyst moving on to Actuarial Analyst, Corporate Accountant, Measures and Planning Analyst, Field Underwriting Consultant. I have an MBA from Illinois State University. First, I would get to know the client personally (parents, siblings, friends and interests). Next, I would work with the client to identify the problem areas and create a list ranking them from major to minor. As a graduate from Briar Cliff College, I have always enjoyed learning and wanting to help others succeed.
