I make sure to have a solid understanding of what the student wants to gain/learn from the tutoring session. After the initial assessment, I focus on relevant problems, and explain my thought process in detail. I have the student work their own problems and approach each problem with the method I have taught them. I believe it is easier to grasp complex/technical math and science problems when you provide real life applications, so I also work to introduce these scenarios during the tutoring session.
