A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently completing my final year at Vanderbilt Law School. Over the past three years, I have taught a class and provided one-on-one tutoring for students preparing to take the LSAT. I also taught an upper level course while in grad school (it was in radio production). While I was in undergrad, I spent time tutoring elementary and middle school aged children over the internet. All together, I have helped dozens of individual students in a private setting and nearly a hundred students in the classroom. Graduating from Alabama with a BS in Finance, I have a strong grasp of math concepts. I finished with a 3.83 and excelled in history, math, computer, economics, and business classes. After graduation, I moved to China to work with college students in the non-profit sector and took language classes while there for two years.

I worked for two years as a tutor mentor for the Upward Bound Program, where I managed a group of 12 college students that tutored and mentored 75 low-income and first generation students in grades 9-12. Also while in college, I have have had the opportunity to work closely with numerous Metro Public Schools around the Nashville area. A Little Bit About Me...

As the daughter of educators, I have been exposed to the education system all my life. As a result of this exposure, I became very interested in tutoring and teaching. I taught for two years as a substitute teacher before attending law school. I previously worked as a substitute teacher with Morrow Elementary in North Lauderdale, Florida where I taught test-taking strategies for the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test. Most recently, I have volunteered with Youth Encouragement services as a tutor.
Based on previous experience I have discovered that the same teaching style does not work for every child. I find that explaining each topic and asking the child question gives a clear indication of their understanding. Based on responses to the questions adjustments may be made to address each child's need.
