I completed my undergraduate degree in Dramatic Arts in 2011. I have directed several theatrical production and dramatic scenes. Additionally, I have worked 1 on 1 with many students on dramatic pieces and monologues for auditions and competitions. I also have served as a judge for several speech and drama competitions (including the National Forensic League). I currently teach Public Speaking on the college level.
For drama and public speaking, I prefer to be highly interactive and enable the student to discover and create his/her own art with knowledgeable guidance and lots of discussion and performance experimentation. I like to use a series of techniques and exercises to build confidence and creativity in the performer.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very interactive. I like to hear what the student has to say, and to tune in to the best way to approach each student. I know that each of us learns in our own unique way, and that the best results are gained by honoring those differences. One of my proudest accomplishments was the success of one particular student, who, at the age of 40, was back in school, having finally been diagnosed with learning disabilities after being passed through the public school system. She was ready to give up, but I worked with her. She is a gifted massage therapist, and I was so pleased to hear that she recently passed her National Boards, a very difficult test.

A Little Bit About Me...

Originally trained as a teacher of Drama and English, I subsequently spent many years working in the theatre, not only in educational situations but also as an actor, director and writer. I am now semi-retired, but still enjoy working as a teacher, and I currently teach animation and drama. I would welcome the opportunity to do some tutoring in language skills.
I have always found that the first and often most important thing a teacher can do is find the obstacles to learning that we all suffer from and seek ways to remove them. These may be the so called "blocks" that may develop after negative early experiences, preconceptions about the subject, or simply lack of confidence. Replacing resistance with enthusiasm and interest, and then providing expert guidance can then lead to acheivement.

I have worked at summer camps for children ages 8-16 throughout my entire life, and love making a difference in a child's life. I am very patient and have a positive attitude.
