I am currently an undergraduate student enrolled at Harrisburg University. I will be graduating in December 2010 with a BS in Biotechnology. I have extensive composition skills which I have acquired through writing research papers, laboratory reports, and essays in multiple fields of study. In college, I tutored grammar school, high school and college students in various math and science courses. Subjects included algebra, calculus, chemistry, and physics. In graduate school, I trained graduate, medical and high school students in various lab techniques and concepts. I also played a large role in managing their laboratory projects. It was at this point that I decided I wanted to become a teacher. After graduating, I became a substitute teacher and also co-instructed an online course for my undergraduate college. A Little Bit About Me...

Because of my experience in teaching my own children, I have discovered that no child is too young to learn. Often people will not consider an infant or toddler a "functioning human being" until the child can speak. This is so inaccurate! I taught one of my daughters to read at age four. My teaching style is to engage the student on a personal level through cheerful conversation and sharing of interests, then to assess learning styles, strengths, and challenges. Children perform well when expectations are complimentary to them, and when they are given the tools and nurture to accomplish their dreams.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked as a helping professional for most of the thirty-plus years since I graduated from Haverford College. A significant portion of my employment experience has involved service to school-age children in their role as students. I currently work as a cognitive rehabilitation therapist with people who have survived traumatic brain injuries.
