A Little Bit About Me...

For three years at Geneva College (2007-2010) I served as a math tutor, tutoring underprivileged, unmotivated, underachieving students at the local high school. Although I loved mentoring the young adults, unfortunately because of relocation back to Maine I was unable to continue the job. Finally for another 3 years I worked as a junior high and high school math tutor in high school. Once again I was unable to keep this due to relocation to college but I learned a lot and look forward to continuing my tutoring career.
I love teaching and interacting with all students, although my preference is junior high and high school as I have helped out in these areas before. I have worked with students who were given up on years before, but once the met me, they evolved and became what so many said they never would become, educated.Vgotsky talked about the zone of proximal development and potential. I believe I teach to reach the highest level of potential and often come very close. I am a fantastic Highly Qualified Educator who gives all I have and then finds where to get more when I run out of ideas.
The school of Education in North Carolina prepared me well. I am above all flexible. My license reads K-8 and I have taught Art K-6 for a year, Second Grade for two years in NC.
