My teaching style with students of all ages is to facilitate their learning as opposed to simply feeding them what I feel is the best response. Students learning is maximized when they can take ownership of and pride in their work. I am very patient. Recognizing that all students learn differently, I seek to ascertain their learning styles and then adjust my tutoring style to that learning style.
I taught and tutored ESL two years before entering law school. I hae taught college classes as an adjunct and later FT professor at Penn College for 25 years. I currently serve as Career Outreach Coordinator for HACC-Lebanon Campus. I have tutored many students, particularly in areas such as writing essays. A Little Bit About Me...

Since I have the opportunity to work one-on-one with students on a daily basis I try to tailor my teaching style to each student. When students are more visual I try to use photos or stories to explain concepts. However, when students learn better by reading I allow them to do so, and discuss the reading after they have had time to absorb the information. I feel like I have to adjust to each student's individual learning style when trying to teach.
I am currently working towards my Masters Degree in School Counseling and work as an intern at McCaskey High School. In addition to counseling I am interested in tutoring students, as I believe with a solid education anything is possible. I have worked at Huntington Learning Center in the past and enjoyed the tutoring experience. There is no better feeling then helping a student reach his/her potential.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have trained students in a laboratory, restaurant and in the home. I graduated from college with honors and have succeeded in statistics, algebra 2, calculus 1, biology 1, chemistry 1, English literature, professional writing, civics, sketching/painting and classical guitar
It's imperative to listen and understand a students challenges. Reviewing their previous work and giving a current test is a good indicator of the situation. I believe in practice and examples as the clearest path to success. I don't hand deliver answers and I make the process towards answers engaging.
